14th century
Height 8.3 cm, mouth diameter 20.5 – 21.6 cm, bottom diameter 10.5 cm
This piece was excavated from Nagataki Sutra Mound as the lid of a Suzu four-mimi jar.
The ware is slightly under-fired, with a light brown fire color and black spots on the sides of the mouth.
The side rim of the bottom has a rough touch of scraping and shaping. It has a flat bottom with geta markings. This is one of the few complete suribachi (mortar bowl) pieces of Kaga Koto pottery.
