16th century
Height 10.3 cm, mouth diameter 6.4 cm, body diameter 12.2 cm, bottom diameter 9.8 cm.
The top of the short outer contravening mouth neck has a slanted flat rim. The shoulders are taut but rounded and no longer angular. The clay is rich in quartzite and is very thick. The surface is whitish with some faint fire coloring. There are three thick vertical ears on the shoulder. It is rare to find Shigaraki vases with ears, so it was probably made as a flower vase. The rim of the mouth is chipped in places, and it is not clear whether or not it had a one-way mouth.
