This pottery is thought to have been made in the late Kamakura period, judging from the narrow rim band created by bending the edge of the mouth rim and the tension of the shoulder. This jar is a type of wide-mouthed jar commonly found in medieval ceramics such as Tokoname and Echizen. The clay is rolled up and the surface of the vessel has been smoothed by scraping. The clay contains many fine grains of iron, which have been molten and blown out in the form of freckles. There are three seals on the shoulder.
