The large outwardly curved mouth rim, the gently curved body that has lost its shoulder tension, and the small base are the most significant features of this period. The jar’s diameter was significantly enlarged, which is the most significant feature of this period. The fine-grained, high-quality clay used in the making of this jar is well-fired, giving it a reddish-brown color, and the half-surface of the body from the mouth rim is covered with a thick layer of bright yellowish-green natural glaze that accentuates the appearance of this jar. The jar has a thin “K” mark on the shoulder, but the use of such small marks is a characteristic of the Tamba period from the mid-Muromachi period onward. This is one of the few examples of Muromachi period jars that have survived.
