This is a tea bowl with a very strong glaze, but it is similar to “Mengei” in that it is deeply made with the elegance that is typical of Chojiro ware. The mouth is held inward, the body is tightened, and the waist is clearly curved. The width of the helmet stands low within the high stand, and there are gentle undulations around the stand. On the back of the lid of the inner box, Kakusai Haraso wrote “Chojiro, black tea bowl, branded May rain, left (hanasho),” which is one of the best brush strokes among Haraso’s calligraphy.
