Chōjirō: tea bowl, known as "Kõi", Black Raku

Height 8.2 cm, mouth diameter 9.6-10.4 cm, base diameter 5.6 cm
This tea bowl has a neat and gentle appearance. The mouth is held slightly inward, and one side of the body is slightly deep and tight. The waist is bent clearly, and the tatami mat is round, with the width of the helmet standing low within the base. The chadameuri (tea tamenuri) on the front is shallow and similar to that of the “Mengei”. The black yuzu on the body of the helmet is also colored with yellowish-brown spots. On the back of the lid of the inner box, Sotan wrote “Chawan Sarai (flower stamp)” and on the front of the lid, Sotan also wrote “Jing-ui he Fu”. Since “Jin-ui” refers to Ichiou Sosho of the Kankyuan, it is thought that this was probably a gift from Sotan to Sosho. On the back of the lid of the outer box, Kakusai Haraso wrote “Kurocha-bowl, old ware, with a garment on the right side, calligraphy by Sotan on the inner box, with Jin-ui on the lid, left (hanasho).
