Height 8.4cm, Bowl diameter 11.5cm, Base diameter 5.3cm
Among Chojiro ware tea bowls, this is a type of bowl called “Doyasukuro”, which is very similar to Setoguro and different from the typical Rikyu style. The bowl is a pure semi-tubular shape with a low base, and part of the mouth bends outward while the other part is held slightly inward. The tatami mat is wide and flat, and the inside of the base has been cut down shallowly to create a gentle width of the helmet. A large semicircular tea bowl has a large semicircle in the center, and the yuzu (a citron color) applied to the entire body is similar to that of Soiryu’s kasehada glaze, but differs from the kasehada seen on most Chojiro wares. It is housed in a simple curved box, and “Kare-Taru Soshitsu (Hanasho)” is written directly on the back of the lid in vermilion lacquer by Soso. It was handed down to Honganji Temple.
