Köetsu: tea bowl, known as "Yukigutsu", Black Raku

Height 7.0cm, Bowl diameter 10.1-13.2cm, Stand diameter 5.0cm
This tea bowl is rather thick for Koetsu’s tea bowls, but its production style is similar to that of “Kuichigai”, and its mouth structure is also similar to that of “Seppou”. In particular, the reason why this tea bowl is attributed to Koetsu is because of the characteristic of the high pedestal, which is clearly circular and flat with tatami mats. Furthermore, the prospect is also made flat and wide. The entire surface is covered with a non-kou style glaze, which melts well with the jet-black color. There are about five irregular marks on the tatami mats of the high stand. On the front of the lid of the inner box, “Koetsu Cro Tea Bowl, Snow Shoes (Hanaseki)” is written by Itto. It is an interesting example of Koetsu’s Kutsu teacups, which are modeled after the Oribe black teacups.
