Köetsu: tea bowl, known as "Rakuten", Black Raku

Height 8.2cm, mouth diameter 13.1cm, base diameter 4.7cm
This tea bowl is also in the shape of a shoe. The roundness of the hips, the construction of the base, and the prospective shape, as well as the black glaze applied to the entire surface, are truly Koetsu’s. The glaze is applied in the style of curtain glaze, and the white lines are drawn around the break in the glaze. It is interesting to see the serpentine glaze appearing as if it were a white line around the break in the glaze, which was applied in the style of a curtain glaze. Although it is not clear, there are about five marks on the tatami mats of the stand, and the inside of the stand has been cut away in the shape of a Tomoe. On the cover of the inner box, Kakusai Haraso wrote “Koetsu black tea bowl, branded Rakuten Left (Hanasho)”. Many of Koetsu’s tea bowls have the calligraphy of Haraso.
