Height 6.2 cm, mouth diameter 15.4 cm, tripod
This is a flat mukozuke with a stroked four sides. The sword has a sword-shaped open mouth with a slightly raised rim and a finger-picked flower shape. This type of mukozuke is quite common in Shino, and was also made in Karatsu. The center of the prospect is painted with a picture of two ashi plants, and the rim is decorated with a hagi (bush clover) design on the diagonal, with a Shibagaki and petal design also on the diagonal between them. The glaze, which is applied over the entire surface, melts smoothly and softly, and a red fire color appears on the rim and bottom of the mouth. The potter’s wheel has a spiral pattern in the center of the prospect, and there are three large, round marks between the legs on the bottom. This is one of the most beautiful mukozuke of its kind, and all five pieces are well matched.
