This is a large, wheel-thrown bowl with a rounded, spacious body and an oval mouth with a stroked angle. The entire surface of the bowl is decorated with a large decorative oniita, and a grapevine trellis is vividly depicted in a spacious line carving. This type of bowl is also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, but there are few other examples of this type of bowl, and it is considered one of the masterpieces among Shino bowls. The back of the bowl has five large, round marks on three sides and five smaller marks on the prospective side.
