Height 42.1 cm, mouth diameter 17.4 x 17.6 cm, bottom diameter 17.8 cm
This is one of the most attractive large Imari color-painted vases in Japan, along with No. 24, but it is not from Japan, but was exported from Europe in the past.
It is a rare example of a piece with a defective base, the mouth of which was distorted during firing, but was not discarded and was over glazed as is.
The body is decorated with a serrated pattern on the neck, floral arabesques on the shoulders, and a cloud pattern below the shoulders, while one side is decorated with a peony centering a taho stone and the other with a taho stone and a camellia with three large flowers.
This type of composition is generally referred to as the Kakiemon style, but it is not limited to the so-called nyushiroko Kakiemon style, as it is often seen on some types of ceramics, such as somezome, and should be considered a style that was popular in Arita from the Kanbun to Genroku periods.
However, it is rare to see such a large figure.
The porcelain is not of very high quality.
