This dish is another masterpiece representative of the celadon blue-and-white shaku-plate series, and is skillfully decorated with hozei patterns scattered over celadon and blue-and-white underwater wave patterns. The hozetsu motif is one of Nabeshima’s favorite motifs, and its arrangement reveals the elegance of Nabeshima’s unique taste. The celadon color is slightly paler than in the previous work, and the peony design on the three sides and the entire surface is covered with arabesques. The base is decorated with a cloisonne design.
