“Azami” is a direct inscription by Senzo, likely named after the glaze color.
This flat tea bowl follows the style of a horse trough favored by Rikyu, with a mountain-like rim and a bulging waist.
The body is adorned with strong horizontal brushstrokes, and the foot rim features distinctive comb marks. The red clay is covered with a glaze that is slightly translucent, revealing the clay beneath. As the fire progresses, the glaze changes color, creating a two-tone effect on one side. The foot is large and flat, with a stamped mark inside and sharp notches along the edge.
The foot rim bears a lacquered inscription by Senzo.
