This is a small flat vase of Sue ware. The body is flat and irregularly circular, and only the neck of the mouth is wheel-formed. The neck of the mouth is large in relation to the body, but this type of vase is common among flat vases produced around the end of the 8th century. This small flat bottle was probably used as a water dropper, as seen in a piece excavated from the Nishinoyama burial mound in Kyoto City.
