The overall style is subdued. The glaze covering the entire piece reveals faint traces of vermilion glaze on the interior and exterior. Three marks remain on the foot rim. On the underside of the box lid, Matagen-sai Ittō has inscribed: “One black tea bowl, Tōri (signature).”
