15th century
Height 5.3 cm, mouth diameter 10.9 cm, body diameter 11.1 cm, bottom diameter 8.3 cm
This is a typical Muromachi style incense burner. It is a short piece with a large bore, and the mouth is tilted inward. The body is flattened like the ash-glazed incense burner shown in Figure 152, and the bottom is flattened. The iron glaze covers the entire exterior surface, except for the bottom and the three legs. The interior surface extends to just below the rim band. The iron glaze is well melted and shows a blackish-brown color, showing the perfection of the Koseto glaze.
