KUMIDASHI-DASHI-CHAWAN

marusankakusikaku

Abbreviated as kumidashi. It is used in the tea ceremony to prepare the tea bowl for the waiting area (donation). It is named after the bowl from which the hot water was drawn and served. Shin-yaki teacups are often used for kumidashi tea bowls, as opposed to the old pottery used for the main tea ceremony. The shape is slightly larger than a sencha bowl.
