Sung red glaze

This is a so-called Song dynasty red-painted ware (宋瓷加彩). This is the oldest type of overglaze painting pottery.
The clay body is painted white, and simple and fluent patterns of flowers and birds are painted in red, yellow, green, and other colors on the glaze. Most of these wares were excavated from Hebei Province’s Hujingluo County in modern times. These wares were probably fired at kilns in the northern provinces of Jiaozhou, Henan, Shandong, and Shanxi, as well as at kilns in the magnetic province. Sung red glaze was not limited to the Sung dynasty, but was produced in the Yuan and Ming dynasties as well.
