Trowel is used in wheel-thrown molding. The first is to press down strongly on the bottom of large vessels during wheel throwing using a wooden trowel in order to increase the density of the bottom and prevent cracks due to shrinkage caused by drying and firing. The second is to form the shape by applying a wooden trowel of the required shape to the inside of the potter’s wheel and pressing it from the outside during the water-grinding process of wheel throwing. In the same way, a trowel of the required shape should be used inside the plaster mold for wheel-thrown molding. In this case, an iron trowel is used.
