Tadanori
Tadanori

Chungking specialties. Kuniyaki tea caddy, Satsuma ware. This tea caddy was probably named Tadadano in honor of the Satsuma governor. According to the “Meimono Meiri Honsho,” this tea caddy is inscribed by Hosokawa Sansai, and the two characters “Tadatoku” on the front of the lid of the inner box with red ink are the handwriting of Sansai. This tea caddy is a representative example of Satsuma ware. The glaze is a variety of colors such as blue candy, astringent color, snake-scorpion glaze, brown, black, and grass color. It was originally owned by Fuyuki Koheiji, a wealthy merchant in Edo, and entered the Nomura family in Osaka via Matsudaira Iga-mori, lord of the Ueda domain in Shinano Province, and the Akahoshi family. (Kokin Meibutsu Ruiju, Rimpo Kameryu, Taisho Meikikan)
