NAWA-SUNDARE
NAWA-SUNDARE

A kind of water fingers.
A type of water jar. The name comes from the carved pattern on the body, which looks like a series of noren (bamboo blinds) hanging from one side of the body. Nawasudare of the Nanban type are particularly well-known, and it is said that these were originally farmer’s seed pots. (Pottery Compendium, “Pottery Compendium”)
