　This ware was excavated from Shigaraki Town in ancient times as a jar vessel. The twist back at the edge of the mouth rim is short and extends upward to create a broad rim band, a characteristic of Shigaraki and Iga jars. Another characteristic of Shigaraki and Iga jars is that the rim band is parallel to the warp of the neck and goes against the outside of the jar. The neck of the jar is clearly distinguished from the body by the extension of the mouth and neck, and the tension of the shoulders suggests that this jar was made in the early 15th century.
The vessel is thought to have been made around the beginning of the 15th century. The firing temperature is low and the vessel is fragile.
