This jar is a descendant of a small Sue ware jar, or perhaps it should be called a jar. It is a form that later became known as tamadare no kogame.
The mouth rim is bent down to form a rounded outer rim, and the tendency toward a ball rim is not yet apparent. The upper half of the bowl has been adjusted by shaving the surface of the bowl. Two sunken lines are placed on the shoulder. The ware is not well fired, and has a grayish color due to reduction firing. The brownish color on the bottom is probably due to iron staining in the clay.
