This is a small, bulky Tokutari. There are still quite a few small Tokutari left in the Korean Karatsu period, but this one has a simple, calm appearance that is pleasing to the eye. The thick white straw-ash glaze and the thick white ame glaze melt well and produce vivid colors, and the body is unglazed from the hem to the base. It is not clear whether the kiln is Karatsu or Takatori’s Uchikeiso kiln.
