This is a small Karatsu Ishi Rekka tea bowl with a deep rise, which has been famous since ancient times. The base of the bowl is cut out roundly, and the inside of the base is cut out roundly. The thin glaze around the base has been fired to a loquat color, and some parts have turned blue. There is a large stone around the waist, which is obviously inserted after the potter’s wheel. However, the overall appearance of this bowl is full of artifice, such as the required simplicity that is typical of Karatsu. Although it is not known when it was made in the Edo period, it is said to have been made by Shiinomine Kiln.
