Height 9.6 cm, mouth diameter 13.1 cm, high stand diameter 7.1 cm
This tea bowl is estimated to have been made in the Iidong Jiangshita Kiln, and is painted with iron glaze over a deep carved design. The entire bowl is thick, the mouth is distorted, the body is tightened, and the low base is carved into a double height, which is typical of this type of carved Karatsu ware. The mouth rim is decorated with dots of iron pigment on the four sides, and the feldspar glaze is quite thick, showing rough penetrations in the glaze, but it is well melted and soft, and the area around the base has a plum blossom skin. Two other carved karatsu bowls of this type are known, but examples of this type are rare. This is probably the earliest of the works influenced by the Mino type of tea bowls.
