Umezawa Memorial Museum
This is a Kutsu-shape tea bowl with a landscape design in the same hand as the Karatsu Kutsu Kutsu Tea Bowl, and is estimated to have been made by the Tani Kiln of the Omiya Pottery.
The base is carved in a small size, the inside of the base is shallowly carved, and the tatami mat is carved with a crescent moon shape. The mouth rim is covered with iron glaze, and a bridge-like pattern on one side of the body and a landscape-like pattern on the other side are both boldly painted with rough brush strokes. The glaze melts well and is softly fired with a reddish tinge.
