Umezawa Memorial Hall
This is one of the few representative examples of a large dish. The base is carved small, and the tatami mats are thin. The entire surface is painted with a picture of a weeping willow, but some people see it as a picture of an ash, with the top and bottom reversed. The brushwork is light and airy with well-developed fine lines. The entire interior and exterior surfaces, except for the area around the base, are covered with a feldspar glaze that contains earth and ash. It was probably made by the Tani Kiln of the jar shop.
