Excavated from the ruins of Heijō Imperial Palace, Nara-shi, Nara.

Height 2.5cm, Diameter 16.2cm.
Nara National Research Institute of Cultural Properties.
 This dish was excavated from a well in SE311B and is thought to date from the Heijo-kyo period. The inner surface of the dish has two characters “Sen” and “Chu” to the left of a bearded figure with a dot on the forehead, and a large circle below written in black ink. On the outer surface, the character “中” is repeated.
