 This shallow flat-bottomed bowl has a jet-black luster, with carbon grains adsorbed only on the inner surface and the surface polished. There are two types of black earthenware: Class A, in which only the inner surface is blackened, and Class B, in which both the inner and outer surfaces are blackened.
