The mouth is oval-shaped with a rounded waist and a large base with a wide tatami mat. The sides of the base and the mouth are covered with a reddish ash color, and the clay surface is reddish-brown and hardened. The body is decorated with a tapped pattern, and the tatami-matted base also retains a tapped pattern. There is an engraved inscription inside the base and a kiln mark carved in spatula on the side of the base. This is also a tea bowl of the hand called Shinbei Shigaraki.
