　The twenty-five-petal relief design around the waist, as if wearing a straw hat, is probably a decorative design of chrysanthemum flowers. The entire surface is covered with black glaze, and the glaze around the shoulder has been scraped off to show a single chrysanthemum flower in arabesque style. It is a rare example, probably dating from the Genroku period (1688-1704). The hem is tapered and has a flat bottom.
