The body has a rough loquat-like tree design with a bird in it, but this is a rare example of this style.
The dark colors of the underglaze blue and the shaded depiction are reminiscent of early Imari underglaze blue.
Early Imari blue-and-white porcelain jars and sake cups are characterized by the rough penetration of the glaze around the edge, which may be a phenomenon that occurs when Arita porcelain is fired on a freshly fired porcelain base.
