This is a rather deep bowl, large for a katamono, with an open mouth in the shape of a sword guard.
The inside is decorated with three rows of six circles on a chrysanthemum lozenge ground with alternating dragon and pearl motifs in red and gold on a mellow yellow ground.
On the outside, a white window is placed on each of the four sides with alternating patterns of flowers and plants and flying phoenixes, and the ground is painted with floral arabesques in moe yellow on a red ground.
The inscription “Made in the year of Manryaku, the dawn of the Ming dynasty” is inscribed inside the base in double circle style in underglaze blue.
There is one mark on the base of the bowl.
It is a gem among the type.
