As is the case with the large bowl in the shape of a monocle with a design of a ship in overglaze enamels, there are many monocle-shaped bowls in the Ko-Imari style.
This is an excellent example of a Dokuraku-shaped medium bowl, with an unusual design.
The design of the basket and ten small and large round patterns are scattered throughout the bowl, and the round patterns include Karafana, flying phoenixes, and dragonflies.
The inside is decorated with an abbreviated tortoiseshell pattern and the outside with an arabesque pattern with eight flowers on a green ground.
It is a rare example of a pale color tone for an Ko-Imari type.
On the inside of the base, there is an inscription “Made in the year of the dawn of the new millennium” written in a double circle, and there are two marks left.
