This is the largest existing example of a Kakiemon-style colored vase, and it is accompanied by a lid. It is probably the most outstanding work of its kind not only in Japan, but also in Europe and the United States. The body is beveled in eight sections with a design of peonies, bamboos, chrysanthemums, and plums with small birds on two sides. Since each of the four patterns is independent of the other two, the stone and rock motifs on the hem of the painting do not shoot out in succession, and since they are forcibly contained in the long, narrow painting, each side of the painting is somewhat stretched out. However, the brush strokes of the overglaze paintings are light, and red, yellow, blue, and green paints are used in all directions. The base is almost milky white, and some longitudinal penetrations can be seen. It was probably made around the Enpo period.
