A large circular dish with a wide mouth and guard rim. It is a representative example of the Kakiemon style of large dishes with milky white hand painting, and the porcelain skin is almost pure white. The circular window in the center of the prospect shows a design of twin phoenixes, around which are divided into eight sections, and the fourth section is filled with a peony arabesque design, and the fourth section on a white background shows pine, bamboo, plum, and peony designs. The peony arabesque design is shown in white on a red ground, giving the overall color tone a glossy appearance, and the red color is reflected in the white milky-white hand-ground, creating a floral red color unique to the Kakiemon style. The pine tree, bamboo, plum tree, and peony motifs are all in the typical Kakiemon style, using taiko-stone as the base, and the design and overglaze enamels are all near completion. The molding is rather thick, with five small marks in the low, wide base, and a peony branch design in overglaze enamels on the outer three sides. The pine tree, bamboo, and plum tree patterns are quite formalized, suggesting that it was made between the Enpo and Genroku periods.
