Height 39.5cm
The strong, stout form of this large Tokutoshi shows its antiquity even in Arita porcelain, and is the most ancient of the large colored porcelain Tokutoshi we have seen in our collection. The peony branches are roughly and clearly expressed on the green, blue, and red overglaze painted Taiko-ishi stone. This kind of representation is almost unheard of, especially when peony flowers are painted in red and blue. Although the date of production is not known, it is thought to have been made in the early Kanbun period.
Kanbun era (1661-1673)
