Jar with chrysanthemum design, enamelled ware

These two works are almost identical in composition and shape. The shape is also almost the same. Moreover, the design from the neck to the shoulders is expressed in underglaze blue.
The body is divided in three directions with a window cutout, and the inside of both pieces is decorated with chrysanthemums. This composition of chrysanthemums with a taiko-ishi stone at the base is generally regarded today as a symbol of the Kakiemon style. It is likely that this style was ordered by the Dutch East India Company, and many of these pieces were exported to Europe in the past.
