A wide-mouthed jar is a vessel with a spherical body and a trumpet-shaped neck. This vessel type has a long history from the beginning of Sue ware to historical times as the most universal everyday container for storage.
There is another type of large jar with a comb-shaped decoration on the surface. This type of wide-mouthed jar was used as a ritual vessel in combination with a high cup-shaped base. The neck of the wide-mouthed jar as a ceremonial vessel changed significantly over time, reaching its peak around the middle of the 6th century, after which it became smaller in size and died out in the first half of the 7th century. This vessel is an old form of such wide-mouthed ritual vessels, and represents the stage in which the neck of the mouth began to grow.
