The neck of this wide-mouthed jar is heavily warped, but it has not yet grown much in proportion to the height of the body, retaining the vestiges of the earliest wide-mouthed jars. The body was formed by winding up clay strings, and the mouth and neck were joined by grinding on the potter’s wheel. The body was fired well, but due to the high temperature, a blackish-brown natural glaze was applied to one half of the body, which flowed down to the lower half of the body.
