This is a typical early 6th century wide-mouth jar with a rather small spherical body and a trumpet-shaped mouth neck. Large wide-mouth jars with designs have been excavated from the same tomb mound as a set with a vessel base, while an unmarked vessel like this one was probably used as a daily storage container. The slightly darkened surface is covered with a dark green natural glaze.
