There are an extremely large number of small plates, or mukozuke, in the Ko-kutani style of overglaze enamels, and they come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Although the date of production and other details remain to be determined, this mukozuke is one of the most attractive examples of Ko-Kutani style colored ware for domestic use from the 17th century, and the four-way corner shape with its inward bow is elegant and refined. The four sides of the bowl are curved inward in the shape of a four-cornered corner, and its elegant design, with its four corners turned inward, is elegant and refined. The base is slightly concave, with an inscription “Fukushi” (Chinese character for “blessing”) in the corner of the base and a simple arabesque-style line pattern on the side.
