 Many of the Ko-Kutani style color paintings were influenced by the Fuyo-te style of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, and this example is a direct copy of Fuyo-te. This example is a direct copy of Fuyo-te. The eight-paned window depicts a phoenix standing on a cliff, and the surrounding area is decorated with the unique Fuyo-te pattern. The design is somewhat similar to that found on fragments of Fuyo-te wares excavated from an old kiln site in Kutani. The reverse side is decorated with a design of flowers and grasses on two sides and Asuka in green and red between the two sides. The shape of the bowl is unique, with a ridge at the waist, and is not often seen on large dishes. The Kakufuku inscription is written inside the base, and the dish is finished in navy blue.
