Bowl on foot with flower design, enamelled ware

Height of stand 6.0cm
Idemitsu Museum of Arts
This is an excellent example of a “daibachi” bowl, a rather deep flat bowl with a guard-shaped mouth and a low, raised rim, to which a large, high stand is attached. The bowl is decorated with a series of daffodils, chrysanthemums, and Japanese apricots in a rounded pattern. The reverse side is decorated with plum tree patterns on three sides and on the base with a four-directional tasukiji pattern in stained colors, green, and red. The inscription of “Niju Kakufuku” is written in underglaze blue and red on the inner circle of the base.
