Kyoto Mingeikan
Like the previous piece, this thin, easily produced incense container depicts the rudder of a ship. Incense containers made by Ninsei often have unexpected shapes like this. The body is cut into the shape of a long, shallow hole in the body to hold the incense, and the lid is painted with green overglaze enamel and gilded with a Kagome design. The front and sides of the lid are covered with a smooth white glaze, and a triangular wave pattern and a cloisonne design in gold and green are expressed in a thin band. The seal of Inqing is stamped in the center of the bottom, and the top is lightly glazed.
