This is a scoop stand, probably modeled after those found in Tang bronze and Chikan celadon. It has a four-sided cylindrical form with a stepped top and a base with two sides with a “shuhama” (beach-shaped) perforated pattern. It is decorated on two sides with iris patterns on the front and back, and has a cocoon-shaped seal by Ninsei stamped on the bottom. This is a rare vessel rarely seen anywhere else.
