Rokuonji Temple
This bowl is thought to have belonged to the monk Hourin of Rokuonji Temple, who had a close relationship with Omuro-yaki and often wrote about Omuro-yaki and Ninsei in his diary, “Bitan-ki”. This is an arm-shaped tea bowl with the mellow swelling characteristic of Insei, and the area around the base is made to show the clay, with the Insei seal stamped inside the base. The two sides of the body are decorated with painted images of a cold mountain and a bamboo forest and rocks on the side, making this one of the best painted iron-work tea bowls by Insei.
It is probably painted by an appropriate artist. The entire surface of the bowl is covered with white glaze, except for the area around the base, which has a faint reddish tint to the glaze.
