The irregularly incised design of the mouth rim in accordance with the pattern on the body is unique to Kenzan and is applied to incense containers, handbasins, hibachi, and mukozuke. The bowl is rounded at the waist, with legs on three sides and a flat arched handle. The mouth rim is covered with rust paint, and the inside and outside are painted with bamboo grass patterns in rust, with a sprinkling of white mud to represent snow, making this a representative example of the snow bamboo or snow bamboo design favored by Kenzan. The entire surface is covered with a transparent glaze, but the glazed surface is finished in a rat color, and an inscription of “Qianzan” is inscribed on the bottom of the clay vessel.
